St. Joseph’s Health Care’s (SJHC) commitment to champion a new era in the understanding of mental illness has been made real with the development of two new campuses in the London and St. Thomas area.
The SJHC campus in St. Thomas focuses on a healing and recovery process for Forensic patients – those delegated under the Criminal Code Review Board of Disposition Orders. Here, opportunities for normalized activities and responsibilities within safe and secure environments have an essential role in supporting positive relationships between patient and clinicians. Thoughtful planning of active and passive security systems in interior and exterior therapeutic spaces integrates patient safety and security, avoiding negative perceptions of institutionalization.
Major facility components include: Assessment Unit, Treatment and Rehabilitation Units, Forensic Rehabilitation Readiness Unit, Patient and Family Services
